Uckfield Fact File
Uckfield os located on the River Uck, which is one of the tributaries of the River Ouse.
The town was originally called Uccafield, a derivative of the Celtic word for 'height' or 'high'.
The present parish church was built in 1839, but it replaced a much earlier thirteenth century medieval chapel.
